Devyn Miller
Hi! I'm an AI researcher, economist, and engineer with a passion for using creativity and technology to solve complex problems. I never set out to study both behavioral economics and machine learning, but curiosity has a way of taking you places you never expected. Whether it's optimizing resource allocation or running game-theoretic simulations, I believe that technology should enhance human intelligence, not replace it (big Fei-Fei Li fan!). I am always curious and always building!
About Me
I have a passion for science and am fully immersed in the worlds of artificial intelligence, software engineering, and economics! My journey combines academic endeavors and hands-on development experience.
✨ Meet Mira! ✨

This is Mira, my coding companion and debugging expert! Her specialty is reminding me to take breaks by strategically placing tennis balls on my keyboard when I've been working too long. She's also an avid hiker who carries her own backpack on our trail adventures! 🐾

Recent Projects
Explore my portfolio of data science and development projects, showcasing expertise in machine learning, statistics, and software development. All projects featured here were developed between 2024 and 2026.

Weak-to-Strong Generalization for Reranking
Reference implementation for training a strong cross-encoder reranker on weak, noisy labels (BM25, a small distilled reranker, click logs) without teaching it to reproduce their mistakes.
Pet Segmentation MLOps Pipeline
End-to-end MLOps rebuild of a pet segmentation model with distributed training, model registry gating, Rust mask cleanup, and Kubernetes serving

PR Blast Radius
Polyglot static analysis tool that computes the "blast radius" of code changes — which downstream symbols could break when you modify a function signature, refactor a class, or update shared utilities.

Clinical Data Ingestion Pipeline
A production-grade, HIPAA Safe Harbor-compliant data engineering platform that ingests raw clinical imaging metadata and DICOM manifests from heterogeneous hospital networks (Cerner and Epic), unifies them via a PySpark Medallion architecture inside Databricks, and exports a fully de-identified, ML-ready Parquet dataset to an S3 Gold zone.

Video Colorization Using VGG16 Autoencoder
Deep learning system for automatic video colorization

Image Colorization via Progressive GAN Training
Generative Adversarial Network project

IoT BLE Audio Streaming System
A hardware/software system for streaming audio over Bluetooth Low Energy using ESP32 and Arduino.

Bayesian vs Frequentist Analysis
Comparative analysis of mental well-being effects using Bayesian and Frequentist approaches
Games
Things I built for fun DSA practice! All playable in the browser.

Speaking & Media
Presentations, workshops, and speaking engagements on AI, personal development, and data science.

Weak-to-Strong Generalization for Better Retrieval and Reranking
Teams train models on weak, noisy signals every day and accidentally teach them to copy mistakes. A confidence-aware approach that lets a strong reranker disagree when it knows better.

The Psychology of Neural Networks
Traces the 80-year journey of artificial intelligence, demonstrating how neural networks are rooted in human psychological theory from early mathematical neuron models to modern GPT architectures. Explores AI parallels to psychological principles like classical conditioning and attention, while examining profound differences including AI's lack of embodiment and the Symbol Grounding Problem.

Academic research and publications on cognitive science, communication health, and data science.
Listening Fatigue and Communication Health in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Adults
Poster presented at CogSci 2025 examining how ASL proficiency, early language exposure, and language dominance relate to listening fatigue and communication health in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing adults. Findings show that sign language use provides cognitive relief from fatigue and strengthens communication health and community belonging.
